SUMMARY:June Monday Movie Night- THE CRY OF GRANUAILE
DESCRIPTION:Mark your calendars for the next Monday Movie Night! Monday\, June 30th at 6:30pm\, we invite you to a special screening of The Cry of Granuaile. Join us at the luxurious Galaxy Theatres Gig Harbor for this captivating and haunting film. \nA grieving American filmmaker (Dale Dickey) and her Irish assistant (Judith Roddy) tour the west of Ireland\, researching a film about Granuaile\, the legendary 16th-century rebel and “pirate queen”. The two women develop an uneasy intimacy as they journey towards a remote Atlantic island\, where boundaries begin to blur between past and present\, myth and history\, dream and reality . . . \nThe Cry of Granuaile masterfully collapses the divide between history and mythology\, fact and fiction. Shot on 16mm film with the majestic backdrop of Clare Island\, the movie is a cinematic delight. We look forward to sharing this dramatic and beautiful picture with you.

SUMMARY:July Monday Movie Night - FRIENDSHIP
DESCRIPTION:Oh\, boy\, do we have a wild ride for you this month! On Monday\, July 28th\, we will be screening the dark comedy Friendship. Join us at Galaxy Theaters Gig Harbor at 6:30 pm for this hilariously twisted film. \nSuburban dad Craig (played by the ridiculously awkward Tim Robinson) becomes infatuated with his charming new neighbor (played by Paul Rudd)\, but when his attempts to make an adult male friend fail\, his bids to win him over soon threaten to ruin both of their lives. \nThe trailer feels like a horror film (brought to you by A24)\, but the comedy lies in its intensity. The nightmare of trying to make friends as a socially awkward adult and the craziness of family dysfunction create a fine line between insanity\, absurdity\, and hilarity.

SUMMARY:JANUARY- Monday Movie Night - Double Feature - EVERY LITTLE THING and THE BIRD IN MY BACKYARD
DESCRIPTION:Happy New Year\, Gig Harbor Film Fans! \nWe are back with a very special Monday Movie Night\, which we have dubbed “Hummingbird Night!” Join us Monday\, January 26th at 6:30pm\, for a screening of Every Little Thing preceded by the short film The Bird in My Backyard. Everyone in attendance at Galaxy Theatres Gig Harbor will be entered into a raffle for a Hummingbird-themed gift basket. \nFull of joy and wonder\, Every Little Thing offers some profound truths in a deceptively simple story. The documentary follows Terry Masear\, the founder of Los Angeles Hummingbird Rescue\, as she cares for injured hummingbirds. Witnessing the fragility and resilience of the tiny creatures\, she experiences her own personal growth. Baby Hummingbirds\, Cactus\, and Wasabi captivate and will have audiencescelebrating their tiny victories and lamenting their tragedies. With breathtaking slow-motion photography and beautiful storytelling\, the film serves as a reminder that in the smallest acts\, and in the tiniest of creatures\, we might find grace. \nBefore our feature film\, we will screen The Bird in My Backyard\, a favorite from last year’s festival. In an urban backyard on Canada’s West Coast\, a window salesman has created a living laboratory for investigating hummingbird behavior. The Bird in My Backyard follows citizen scientist Eric Pittman as he documents the journeys of two hummingbirds as they attempt to raise their young in his urban garden. It’s a story about the childlike curiosity in all of us\, the wonders it can reveal\, and the doors it can open if we just lean in a bit closer. \n

SUMMARY:MARCH Monday Movie Night- MR. NOBODY AGAINST PUTIN
DESCRIPTION:Pasha Talankin is an unlikely hero—a beloved Russian primary school teacher\, known as a mentor and prankster who offers students a safe haven in his office. After Russia invades Ukraine\, Pasha’s role in the school changes dramatically as he is reluctantly drawn into Putin’s propaganda machine. Forced to promote state-sanctioned messages and horrified by the transformation of his school and community\, he struggles with guilt and a sense of powerlessness\, leading him to become an international whistleblower. As the school’s videographer\, Pasha documents intimate and revealing footage of Putin’s regime\, capturing the rise of militarized children’s groups\, repressive laws\, fervent nationalism\, and the recruitment of graduating students to fight in the war. When he learns his own life may be at risk\, Pasha is forced to plan a dangerous escape from Russia. Directed by David Borenstein and co-directed by Pasha Talankin\, this uniquely collaborative film is as captivating and joyful as it is eye-opening and sobering. Mr. Nobody Against Putin showcases rare footage that reveals the profound impact of Putin’s regime on the lives of everyday Russians\, particularly its children.
